DJI Air 3 repair has a twist that surprises owners: the Air 3 routes its antennas through the arms. Snap a rear arm in a crash and you may also get a weak signal or a dropped link, because the antenna inside the arm went with it — a repair that is often misdiagnosed as a controller fault. The Air 3’s other weak point is its dual-camera gimbal, heavier than a single-camera unit, which loads the gimbal motors and ribbon hard in a nose-first landing, and the small landing-gear stubs on the front arms break off in a rough touchdown. We repaired exactly this combination on our bench recently — an Air 3 with antenna-arm damage — and wrote it up on our blog. Diagnosis is free, the quote is in writing, and mail-in is how most Air 3s reach us.

What breaks on the DJI Air 3
- antennas routed through the arms — a snapped rear arm often means a lost-link or weak-signal fault as well
- the dual-camera gimbal is heavy and loads the gimbal motors on impact
- gimbal ribbon cable
- landing gear stubs on the front arms break off
DJI Air 3 repairs we do
- Prop & motor swap
- Arm repair (single)
- Full arm repair (all arms)
- Gimbal repair
- Gimbal + camera replace
- Body / shell repair
- Mainboard / ESC repair
- Vision sensor repair
- Battery bay / port repair
Air 3 arms with antennas, gimbal ribbons and landing-gear stubs are standard stock items; the dual-camera module is sourced per job.
Common faults and what they mean
- Gimbal & camera — “Gimbal motor overloaded” or “gimbal stuck” warning at power-on
- Crash & impact damage — cracked shell, snapped or loose arm, broken landing gear
- Water & liquid damage — aircraft went into water and will not power on
- Arms, motors & ESCs — “ESC error”, “motor blocked” or “motor stall” warning
- Remote controller — controller will not pair or keeps dropping the link
- Firmware & calibration — firmware update failed or the aircraft is stuck in a boot loop
What it costs and how long it takes
Diagnosis is free. We send a written, itemized quote before any work; no parts are ordered and nothing is opened until you approve it. Most repairs are priced flat-rate so the written quote is the full cost; complex board-level work may be quoted hourly, always before it starts.
Most common repairs are completed within days of quote approval, parts availability permitting. You get a timeline with your quote.
Every repair is covered by our 90-day limited repair warranty on the specific part and workmanship we repaired.
Repair or replace a DJI Air 3?
The Air 3 is a four-figure aircraft and its typical repairs — an arm, a ribbon, a gimbal motor — are a fraction of that, so repair wins almost every time. Even a full dual-camera module replacement is usually well under the price of a new Air 3. The free diagnosis puts both numbers in front of you before you choose.
Specs that matter for repair
- DJI Air 3 (2023) — prosumer, 720 g takeoff weight
- Camera: dual 1/1.3-inch cameras (wide + 3x telephoto), 3-axis gimbal
- Sensing: omnidirectional vision sensors
Mail it in or drop it off
- Mail-in from anywhere in the U.S. — request a quote, get your RMA number and shipping instructions, pack the aircraft with two inches of padding and the RMA number inside the box (packing checklist).
- Batteries: ship at or below 30% charge, ground only, no more than two spares, never a swollen or damaged pack — see the battery shipping guide.
- Local drop-off by appointment in Cumming, GA (north metro Atlanta) — see drop-off details.
Common questions
After replacing an Air 3 arm the video link is weak. Why?
The replacement arm must include the antenna, correctly seated and connected. An arm fitted without its antenna, or with the coax pinched at the hinge, gives exactly that symptom. We fit antenna-equipped arms and verify link strength on the bench.
Does the Air 3S have the same weak points?
Mostly. The Air 3S adds a larger 1-inch camera and a forward LiDAR module, which makes the gimbal and the nose even more impact-sensitive; the antenna-in-arm design is shared.
Can you repair just the telephoto camera on the Air 3?
The two cameras share one module on the gimbal, so a damaged telephoto is normally a module replacement. We confirm whether the fault is the module or the gimbal before quoting.
